For us at Bergfreunde, one thing is certain: being outdoors together is irreplaceable! Taking responsibility for the environment and society is therefore important to us as a company. Consequently, we have firmly anchored the issue of sustainability in our corporate strategy and everyday business. You can find out what that means here.
As an online retailer, we have an impact on the climate and the environment. That is why climate and environmental protection is a key focus of Bergfreunde's sustainability strategy. Our goal is to protect the environment and the climate by minimising our ecological footprint and making an effective contribution to the 1.5-degree target.
Bergfreunde thrives on the ideas, commitment and dedication of its employees. With their diverse talents, ideas and expertise, our employees make a significant contribution to the success of the company. That is why we implement numerous measures to create a good working environment characterised by appreciation, goal-oriented cooperation and respectful interaction. However, our social responsibility does not end at the boundaries of our company. That is why we are involved in various regional and national projects for environmental and climate protection and support numerous social projects.
Establishing a transparent and responsible supply chain: As an online retailer, one of our greatest levers in the area of sustainability is the supply chain. This applies to both environmental and social aspects. That is why we want to work closely with our suppliers to jointly promote sustainability along the supply chain.
As retailers, we depend on our customers – also when it comes to sustainability. Only together can we promote sustainable consumption. That is why we want to enable our customers to make sustainable and conscious purchasing decisions and empower them to use the products they buy in a sustainable way.

Sustainability
Holistic approach: We have firmly anchored sustainability in our corporate strategy. Ecological and social aspects are given equal consideration. This includes fair working conditions, conscious product selection and transparent communication with customers and partners.
Science based climate targets: As part of the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), we have committed ourselves to scientifically based climate targets. These have since formed the basis for a continuous reduction in CO2 emissions.
Industry-wide responsibility: For us, sustainability does not end at our own company boundaries. Together with four other outdoor retailers, we founded the ‘Outdoor Retailer Climate Commitment’ in 2021. The aim of the network is to promote a rethink in the industry and motivate other players to take active climate protection measures.
